Where the Mind Goes
“Our lives are always moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts. What we think shapes who we are.”–Quote from YouVersion app Winning the War in Your Mind. That’s why controlling people use verbal abuse to demean their victims. If you’re buying what they’re selling, they have power over you. The devil wants us to believe we’re helpless against these thoughts, but Christ says: “Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.” 1 John 5:21 NLT He wants us to live a life of abundance filled will genuine peace, and that starts in our minds. (John 10:10 and John 14:27)
I lived in a very negative relationship for many years. Let me tell you, trying to stay focused on praiseworthy attributes of life becomes a real challenge when the devil is slamming you with fear and self-doubt on a daily basis. I think that’s why God reminds us: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2 NLT…despite outside influences. On a positive note: we have the power to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and decide where our mind goes. No one gets to choose for us!
