The God of My Rock
“The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower, and my Refuge, my Savior; Thou savest me from violence.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MENTAL PICTURE OF STABILITY AND STRENGTH.
When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
CAN’T YOU SEE THAT HUGE WAVE SWELLING, GETTING READY TO OVERCOME YOU? BUT HOLD ON….
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and He did hear my voice out of His temple, and my cry did enter into His ears.
GOD HEARS! HE’S AWARE I’M IN DISTRESS AND NEEDING HIM. BECAUSE I DID MY PART IN CALLING OUT TO HIM, HE STOPS AND LISTENS.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
WHAT AN EMPOWERING IMAGE. CAN YOU SEE HEAVEN BENDING TO REACH DOWN? AND “DARKNESS WAS UNDER HIS FEET.” EVERYTHING BAD IS TRAMPLED BENEATH THE FEET OF JESUS. HALLELUJAH!
The Lord thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered His voice.
THERE’S NOTHING LIKE THE VOICE OF THE ALMIGHTY! EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING STOPS TO LISTEN.
And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
GOD EXHALES ANSWERS. HE REVEALS ALL THAT IS HIDDEN.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.
GOD IS BIGGER AND STRONGER, A SAFE PLACE IN THE STORM.
For Thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.
WHERE THERE IS LIGHT, ALL DARKNESS FLEES.
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.”
