No Comparison

In August 2023, I had a follow-up appointment with my pulmonologist. While reviewing my chart, he disclosed, “You are the best pulmonology patient I have seen today.” That sounds like good news, right? Well, what if I told you my O2 stats read 89-92 percent while sleeping with a CPAP machine at night? Or that I require 9-12 hours of sleep to function during the other 12-15 hours of the day? Not so impressive then, huh?

Why do we often allow others’ opinions or flippant declarations to supersede our reality? If you’re having a bad day, it’s ok to be sad or in pain or frustrated with your circumstances. If your present truth has you overwhelmed, discouraged, or fighting to be at peace, you don’t have to prove its legitimacy in order for it to be real. We need to train our brains to resonate with the following statements: my life is not a comparison game. Jesus loves me where I am, and I am enough, no matter what anyone else says, thinks, or believes.

Today, remind yourself of God’s character and Who He is.

God will protect you in all circumstances, despite any conflicting thoughts or reasoning, because, “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” Psalms 46:1 NLT

Nothing is too big or too small for Him.  “O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by Your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for You!” Jeremiah 32:17 NLT “How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.” Psalms 36:7 NLT

He is ready to wrap His arms around you in a great big hug and help you find peace, because He cares for you. “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

Find your rest in Him today, knowing He is in control, and no person or heavenly being can usurp that power. “How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!” Psalms 147:5 NLT “For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.” Romans 11:36 NLT “The disciples were amazed. ‘Who is this man?’ they asked. ‘Even the winds and waves obey him!’” Matthew 8:27 NLT
