Subduing Urges

Genesis 4-7

“You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” Genesis 4:7 NLT

From the very beginning, God warns us about sin. He didn’t say that subduing our urges would be easy, but He did say it is our job to be its master and not allow the devil to have a foothold in our lives. And if these are God’s expectations for us, you know He will provide a way for us to live up to His standards.

“God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
