The Long Way Around

Exodus 13-15

This stood out to me today. ”When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, ‘If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’ So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.“ Exodus‬ ‭13‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God knows what it’s going to take for us to endure what lies ahead in our journey. He also knows how easy it is for us to want to give up when the moment in front of us is hard. So, if it feels like God is taking you the long way from Point A to Point B, He probably is—not because He’s a mean God, but because He has your best interest at heart and is protecting you in the middle of the bigger story. Hang onto Him. He’s gotcha!
