Samson’s Prayer
Judges 16-18
Samson snapped seven new bow strings that bound him, broke brand new ropes from his arms, and yanked his hair from a loom. And this deceptive behavior by Delilah didn’t phase him? I don’t care how much “tormenting” Delilah did (Judges 16:16), I don’t see how ANY MAN would think she could be trusted, yet Samson told her the true secret to his strength, and she exploited him.
But what I find interesting is Samson’s prayer:
“…‘Sovereign Lord, remember me again. O God, please strengthen me just one more time. With one blow let me pay back the Philistines for the loss of my two eyes.’” Judges 16:28 NLT And, for whatever reason, God’s righteous anger (Romans 12:19 NLT) aligns with Samson’s desire for revenge, and God allows the temple to come crashing down on approximately 3,000 people, including Philistine rulers, using Samson’s brute strength mixed with divine power.
