Tithes & Yeast

Deuteronomy 14-16

“You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭14‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Since most of us aren’t farmers, what is considered tithable today? This text makes me believe it’s what’s considered our increase.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭16‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬ says, “Let no yeast be found in any house throughout your land for those seven days….” Curious, I googled how that could even happen. Where does yeast come from? Appears, per www.Rochester.edu, “The most common bread yeast…can also be grown by simply combining flour and water.” Good to know.
