Anointed with Oil

2 Kings 9-11

“…find Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Call him into a private room away from his friends, and pour the oil over his head. Say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you to be the king over Israel.’ Then open the door and run for your life!” 2 Kings‬ ‭9‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ If someone came to me and unexpectedly dumped oil all over my head, I’d say hightailing it out if there would be good advice to heed.

“But Ahaziah’s sister Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Ahaziah’s infant son, Joash, and stole him away from among the rest of the king’s children, who were about to be killed. …Joash remained hidden in the Temple of the Lord for six years while Athaliah ruled over the land.” 2 Kings‬ ‭11‬:‭2‬-‭3 NLT

When Joash turned seven years old, “The palace guards stationed themselves around the king, with their weapons ready. They formed a line from the south side of the Temple around to the north side and all around the altar. Then Jehoiada brought out Joash, the king’s son, placed the crown on his head, and presented him with a copy of God’s laws. They anointed him and proclaimed him king, and everyone clapped their hands and shouted, ‘Long live the king!’” 2 Kings‬ ‭11‬:‭11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ God protects and His plan always succeeds.
