2 Samuel 8-12

Sneaky. Underhanded. Outright evil. David plots against Uriah, who had done no wrong. ”…When the enemy soldiers came out of the city to fight, Uriah the Hittite was killed along with several other Israelite soldiers.“ 2 Samuel‬ ‭11‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

”…But the Lord was displeased with what David had done.“ ‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭11‬:‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬ The Lord then points out, ”You did it secretly, but I will make [your disgrace] happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel.” 2 Samuel 12:12 NLT David’s punishment is laid out by the prophet Nathan in Verse 14, “…because you have shown utter contempt for the word of the Lord by doing this, your child will die.”

David fasted and wept while the child was alive, hoping the Lord would be gracious to him and let the child live. (2 Samuel‬ ‭12‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬) But that was not the outcome. After the child died ”…David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and slept with her. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon….“ ‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭12‬:‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Amazing how God can flip the script and use our messes for His glory! Keep reading to see what comes next in Solomon’s story.
