The Loss of a Child

2 Samuel 19-21

”Word soon reached Joab that the king was weeping and mourning for Absalom. As all the people heard of the king’s deep grief for his son, the joy of that day’s victory was turned into deep sadness.“ 2 Samuel‬ ‭19‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You never get over the loss of a child. The pain is unbearable. The sacred being torn from your life leaves you grappling for answers and fighting off darkness. I can feel David’s grief at the loss of Absalom. I have been in his shoes, losing a person who I viewed as a son just over a year ago shortly before his 21st birthday. You are never prepared. Tragedy leaves scars that change you, and the devil wants to overwhelm you with fear and sadness and anger. God is bigger than the hole that’s left in your heart. God will heal the wound.
