Nehemiah 8 & 9

“Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were interpreting for the people said to them, ‘Don’t mourn or weep on such a day as this! For today is a sacred day before the Lord your God.’ For the people had all been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.” Nehemiah continued, “…Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” Nehemiah‬ ‭8‬:‭9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Joy doesn’t come from circumstances. Joy is found in God. That’s where unfathomable strength is generated.

“…As soon as they were at peace, Your people again committed evil in Your sight, and once more You let their enemies conquer them.” Isn’t it amazing how in our human state we stray from God when times are good? We think we don’t need Him, become self reliant. “Yet whenever Your people turned and cried to You again for help, You listened once more from heaven. In Your wonderful mercy, You rescued them many times!” Nehemiah‬ ‭9‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I’m so glad God chooses to rescue us!
