The Threat Was Real

Nehemiah 4-6

“…Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs, Ammonites…made plans to come and fight against Jerusalem and throw us into confusion. But we prayed to our God and guarded the city day and night to protect ourselves.” Nehemiah‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“During this time, none of us—not I, nor my relatives, nor my servants, nor the guards who were with me—ever took off our clothes. We carried our weapons with us at all times, even when we went for water.” Nehemiah‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Talk about living in fight or flight mode! But that’s what you do when the threat is real and imminent.

It goes on to say: “They were hoping to intimidate me and make me sin. Then they would be able to accuse and discredit me.” Nehemiah‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Isn’t that just like a manipulator? That’s why it’s so important to be connected to God all day long, so we will always hear His voice above the intended chaos and obey His instructions.
