God’s Love Doesn’t Change Because of Our Sin
Job 35-37
“If you sin, how does that affect God? Even if you sin again and again, what effect will it have on Him? No, your sins affect only people like yourself, and your good deeds also affect only humans.” Job 35:6, 8 NLT These are very deep verses. I want to believe when I sin I’m breaking God’s heart, because turning from Him does matter to Him. So, in that sense, it does affect God, but not in a way that changes who He is or how He loves us. His love doesn’t have a greater or lesser scale. Read that again. Our good deeds have no impact on whether God loves us more or less, but it can affect those around us struggling to understand God and believe that His love and sacrifice on the cross is real. “God is mighty, but He does not despise anyone! He is mighty in both power and understanding.” Job 36:5 NLT
Are you struggling right now? “…by means of their suffering, He rescues those who suffer. For He gets their attention through adversity. …God sent this suffering to keep you from a life of evil.” Job 36:15, 21 NLT God’s intent is to save us.
