Is Life Really Meaningless?
Ecclesiastes 1-4
These words were spoken by King Solomon, someone considered to be the wisest man to ever live: “Everything is meaningless, …completely meaningless!” Ecclesiastes 1:2 NLT “The greater my wisdom, the greater my grief. To increase knowledge only increases sorrow.”
Ecclesiastes 1:18 NLT What I’ve come to observe during my time on earth is the most brilliant minds are tortured with thoughts like these, mainly because there is so much the human mind cannot comprehend due to our sinful state. Trying to make sense out of the repetitive nature of our days gets very overwhelming and burdensome to contemplate. Without Heaven as our main focus, everything else feels like worthless actions and mere stuff.
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11 NLT That’s where trusting in His ultimate plan, knowing He has our best interest at heart, comes into play. It is necessary in order for us to experience true happiness.
