Punished Because of Love
Nahum 1-3
“The Lord is slow to get angry, but His power is great, and He never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays His power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath His feet.” Nahum 1:3 NLT I’ve heard non-believers use texts like this to deny we serve a loving God. But do you realize, this is a human’s perspective of God, written by human hands, influenced by the time and age it was written? And where some people may believe God punishing the guilty is an act of vengeance or anger, I believe it’s actually an act of love. Yes, I said what I said; and I believe it with my whole heart.
“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7 NLT
Imagine being so cruel that people feel relief at your absence. So very sad! “There is no healing for your wound; your injury is fatal. All who hear of your destruction will clap their hands for joy. Where can anyone be found who has not suffered from your continual cruelty?” Nahum 3:19 NLT But God gives relief.
