Actions Bring Judgement
Amos 6-9 and Obadiah 1
This is such a sad statement: “You push away every thought of coming disaster, but your actions only bring the day of judgment closer.” Amos 6:3 NLT
“‘Even if they dig down to the place of the dead, I will reach down and pull them up. Even if they climb up into the heavens, I will bring them down. Even if they hide at the very top of Mount Carmel, I will search them out and capture them. Even if they hide at the bottom of the ocean, I will send the sea serpent after them to bite them. Even if their enemies drive them into exile, I will command the sword to kill them there. I am determined to bring disaster upon them and not to help them.’” Amos 9:2-4 NLT This is a very fed up God—with every right to be. This isn’t about Him not loving these people, but He’s ready to put an end to their nonsense, for they have rejected Him time and again with no remorse. These verses seem to me to be God pointing out you cannot run or hide from Him. Anywhere you go, there He is. That’s a blessing or a curse, depending on how you choose to live your life—for God or against Him. There is no middle ground. You’re either hot or cold.
