Authority Over Evil Spirits
Mark 1-3
“Amazement gripped the audience…. ‘What sort of new teaching is this?’ they asked excitedly. ‘It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey His orders!’”Mark 1:27 NLT All these years later, we still have this same power in our lives if we choose to use it!
Demons know who who Jesus is: “So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and He cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who He was, He did not allow them to speak.” Mark 1:34 NLT “And whenever those possessed by evil spirits caught sight of Him, the spirits would throw them to the ground in front of Him shrieking, ‘You are the Son of God!’” Mark 3:11 NLT I used to wonder why Jesus wouldn’t want everyone at that time to know who He was. Now I understand not everyone supported Jesus’ ministry and wished Him well. This was why Jesus had to be careful about who surrounded Him. His life in human form depended on it, and it seemed He wanted to inform believers of His true identity and authority for as long as possible until His time came.
