Judas’ Secret
Mark 14
“But Jesus replied, ‘Leave her alone. Why criticize her for doing such a good thing to Me? You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have Me.” Mark 14:6-7 NLT A life without Jesus? That’s hard to understand after you’ve been in His press.
“Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests to arrange to betray Jesus to them. They were delighted when they heard why he had come, and they promised to give him money. So he began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus.” Mark 14:10-11 NLT Isn’t that just like the devil to to promote evil deeds by tempting us with things our hearts desire? For Judas, it was money.
“As they were at the table eating, Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth, one of you eating with Me here will betray Me. …It is one of you twelve who is eating from this bowl with Me.” Mark 14:18, 20 NLT Being called out by Jesus. Wow! Imagine being Judas. How would Jesus have known his secret? Sneaky, conniving sell out. No CIA feeding Jesus details, but somehow He knew the plot against Him. I bet Judas felt lower than the scum of the earth. I would have.
“Then some of them began to spit at Him, and they blindfolded Him and beat Him with their fists. ‘Prophesy to us,’ they jeered. And the guards slapped Him as they took Him away.”
Mark 14:65 NLT Talk about cowards! Not only were they cruel, they blindfolded Jesus so He couldn’t see them while they were harming Him. Very sad and telling.
