Children of God
John 1 & 2
God took nothing—void, black, emptiness—and turned it into His canvas. Darkness thicker than midnight engulfed all existence, so He spoke light into it. John 1:5 says this light shone in the darkness, “…and the darkness can never extinguish it.” What great news! But that wasn’t enough. This space demanded organization, so God pulled the ocean away from the sky and formed dry land, making two separate entities; then He added color and creativity to every animal and piece of vegetation, from microscopic organisms to infinite macroscopic possibilities. However, loneliness lingered amidst His artistry, so He got down on His hands and knees and shaped the form of a man, blowing life into his nostrils, also creating for him a mate from man’s rib. “Then God looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was very good!…” Genesis 1:31 NLT
“But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 NLT This still holds true for us today. “From His abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.” John 1:16 NLT
