Resiliency
Resilient? Yes, that’s one word that can be used to describe me. I’m not made to give up or surrender in battle. God didn’t wire me that way. I’m not a quitter. I’m a fighter. It’s a blessing. It’s a curse. It’s what’s kept me alive for many, many years. But when pondering the reason for the drive behind my resiliency, the words that came out of my mouth surprised even me. It also proved how far I’ve come in my walk with God over the years: “I never asked if I was strong enough—if I could do it. I simply asked how God was going to get me through it.” With God ordering my steps, me knowing the underlying why or how didn’t seem quite so important. I just knew I would be protected and guided. I trusted my unknowns to a known God. There has always been safety and peace with God in control, and that’s what’s made all the difference.
“A man’s heart plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 NKJV
