More Important Than Healing
Ever realize how when you open your devotional for the day or flip the pages of the Bible to the day’s reading how God is there, meeting you where you’re at? Someone printed those words days, months, even centuries before you had the need, but God is now utilizing those thoughts in this moment to reach you, speaking to your current situation. That’s the Holy Spirit at work.
After living many years in what doctors term “fight or flight mode,” my safety threatened by someone I once trusted, I recently told God I want to forgive the person who put me in this situation, knowing it’s the cause of my current health issues. I don’t want to carry resentment around in my life. I want to heal.
Today’s devotional by Nicky and Pippa Gumble read: “Jesus goes on to make the point that forgiveness is more important than healing. But healing is not unimportant. …During the waiting period, the challenge is to keep on trusting God.” The Bible then added, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else…and He will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT I’m going to lean into this today.
