Obeying God
Today, a meme popped up in my Facebook feed from @saltandlightwords. It simply read: “Obeying God is easy until He tells you to let go of something you want to keep.” It stopped me in my tracks. I sat a moment as my mind expanded on the thought. Obeying God isn’t limited to an unhealthy habit or life-altering addiction. Those are usually easy to recognize and understand. But sometimes it’s learning to let go of a friendship that’s holding you back or releasing an expectation of what you thought life would look like at this point in your life. Most of us won’t admit we want to hold onto pain. Who wants to do that and live in agony? But sometimes letting hurts go is harder than trusting God with the unfamiliar present and unknown future. We all go through the struggle in our own ways. Just something to think about today. No matter how hard, I choose to obey.
